How to use the PracStreamer™

Let me show you how the PracStreamer™ can be used to teach a practical topic.

Introducing the infinispark PracStreamer™ - video transcription

Hi, I’m Hus. In this video, I want to introduce you to our brand new product called the PracStreamer. As the name suggests, it’s designed for streaming and the practical and can be used in training environments like TAFEs, RTOs, colleges, and even for product demonstrations and trainings.

Let me tell you a little bit about what’s included in the PracStreamer. There is a frame, there are two HD cameras, there is a microphone, and there is a switcher. The switcher will allow you to change the views of the camera. So right now, we are on the presenter view so the presenter can talk straight to the camera. The next view I’m going to show you is the top view. So now you can see what sort of practical I would be conducting and demonstrating to the students. To make it even more engaging, I can turn on picture in picture so you can see me or the trainer while you are presenting the practical. The area that you have available here is one meter wide, about 600 millimeters deep and about 600 millimeters high, so there’s plenty of space to do your practical.

If you want to demonstrate something on the whiteboard, you can go to the presenter view and demonstrate on the whiteboard behind you if you have one, or there is a better way. You can actually switch to the tablet view. Now, the tablet itself is not included with the kit, but all the connections are available and the cable is part of the kit. But if you want to make it more engaging, even in the tablet view, you can turn the picture and picture on, and now I can demonstrate a circuit, for example. I’ve got this circuit here, and I’ve got four parts of the simple circuit, power supply, load, control, conductive path. I can draw on this and I can engage the students with the whiteboard.

Another view we also have available is the external camera view. So there is another port here, HDMI port, which is for external camera, so if you have a camera like I have in this corner. At the moment, it’s not connected, but if you wanted to stream that as well, you could connect it to the external cam port and then choose the external cam switch, and that way you will be able to engage the students even with a different angle.

Now let’s talk about outputs. There are two outputs for the PracStreamer. One of them is the webcam, which is what we are using right now. So I’ve got the webcam port on the switcher connected to the computer, and I’m recording it via Zoom so you get a realistic idea of what it would look like when you’re streaming it virtually. If you want to stream this in a face-to-face environment, you have an option of HDMI out, which can go to a screen or to a projector.

Now, you could use this for various functions. The way we use it is if we want to demonstrate our equipment, people feel uncomfortable huddling around you, and again, if they were to huddle around you, it’s not very engaging because there might be too many people. It’s actually better for them to sit wherever they are and project the practical on the screen, which will engage them a little bit more. If you have any questions about the PracStreamer, please feel free to reach out to us via the email or the number on the screen. Thanks for watching.

PracStreamer™ ease of setup - video transcription

Hi, this is Hus. In this video, I want to show you how easy it is to set up the PracStreamer.

I’ve got a camera at the back, so what I’ll do is I’ll disconnect the PracStreamer and all the cables, and then I’ll time myself and reconnect the whole thing so you can see how long it takes to set it all up. Let’s get started.

Now, I’ve disconnected the PracStreamer and I’m going to turn the timer on and start setting it up again.

As you saw on the screen, that took about 32.2 seconds to set it all up, so you’ll be able to set it up in under a minute and get your practical started.

If you have any questions about the PracStreamer, please feel free to reach out to us via the email or the phone number on the screen. Thanks for watching.

How to use the PracStreamer™

Hi, this is Hus. In this video, I want to show you how easy it is to use the PracStreamer, whilst showing you a practical demonstration of how to connect a simple circuit. Let me start with the tablet view so I can explain to you the concepts of the simple circuit. In the simple circuit. You have four parts. You have a power supply. You have load, control, and a conductive path. In this circuit, we don’t have everything, so let’s add that here. So, we’ve got a power supply. That’s here. We’ve got the conductive path, but what we don’t have is a control, so let’s add that control here, and we have a lamp. Now, that is a simple circuit completed, so the power supply is our DC battery symbol, and the load is our lamp, control is our switch, and the conductive path is the wire.

Let’s now connect this on the PracStreamer. So, I have a power supply here, and I have a lamp here, and this is the switch. I’m going to go from the power supply to the switch, from the switch to the lamp, and from the lamp back to the power supply. So, if I turn the power on, power is turned on, but the lamp’s not on, because the switch is off. Let’s turn the switch on and we can see that the lamp has turned on, and it’s drawing about 230 milliamps. I can confirm the voltage across this lamp with this voltmeter. So, let’s connect the voltmeter in parallel to the lamp, and we can see that it’s got a voltage of 11.9 across it. That was a simple circuit with the voltmeter connected in parallel to the lamp.

If you have any questions about the PracStreamer, please feel free to reach out via the email or the phone number on the screen. Thanks for watching.
