Hi, I am Hus. In this video, I would like to share with you an update that we have done to our Electromag Pracbox. Let’s get started.

In our previous versions of Electromag Pracbox, we had a whole effect proxy, here and inductive proxy here. As you can see here, we’ve replaced the whole effect proxy with a solenoid and left the inductive proxy there.

The reason we’ve made this update is because in the old unit of competency of electromagnetism that was G101, there was a mention of whole effect devices. So we wanted to keep that in the equipment. But in the new training package, G101 is now deleted, and has been replaced with EL21 and EL19. And neither of those units have a mention of whole effect sensor, whole effect proxy, or devices. But solenoid was always there, so we thought that, let’s put a solenoid there so you can get more out of the equipment.

Now, what we didn’t want to do is just put a solenoid in there that basically just turns on and off, because there is not a lot of learning involved in there. We wanted to put it in a way that is more interactive for students. Let me show you a quick demo of what we’ve done.

From the layout, you can see that there is the solenoid here and there is an inductive proxy here. And just by looking at it, you can tell that if this solenoid is activated, it will go over this proxy, and it will activate this proxy. Let me connect the circuit and show you how this works.

First, I’ve just connected the proxy to see how it’s working. So I’ve turned that on, and I’m going to use a metal to see if it detects the presence of that metal. And you can see that it’s working. Now, let me include the solenoid in this mix. While the proxy is off, I’m going to activate the solenoid, and you can see when that’s activated covers the proxy. Now, let’s turn both of them on and see what happens. So the proxy is on now, and if I turn on the solenoid, you can see that the proxy is detecting the presence of the extended arm of the solenoid.

That was a very short demo of what the solenoid and inductive proxies can do together, but we will make a more detailed and more technical video of this combination and what we can achieve with this, and how we can engage the learners in my next video.

Also, we haven’t forgotten about our customers that have previous versions of Electromag Pracboxes. We have developed a retrofit kit where you’ll be able to replace the whole effect proxy with the solenoid. I’ll give you more information about that in my following videos.
