video transcription - installation testing faultboard

Hi, I’m Hus. I’m the CEO of Infinispark. I have more than 12 years of experience in the electrotechnology training industry, so I understand the concerns of compliance, learner attrition, and the increasing demands on trainer’s time. Welcome to Installation Testing fault board video. In this video, I will show you which units the installation testing fault board is designed for, the powerful fault system, and the game changing innovations like battery operation, main selection, and appliance fault control. The installation testing fault board is designed for the final unit of the certificate three in electrotechnology that is G105, which is getting replaced by L39.

The components that we have chosen are similar to what the apprentices will get during their licensing or capstone tests. The biggest problem we have found during the licensing test is the failure rate, which is mostly attributed to the lack of practice. The fault system and the fault board allows the students to do 51 practice tests. We should get them one step closer to getting their electrician’s license. The fault system in the installation testing fault board has options of 50 sets of fault. We have set them up in levels of complexity for gamification. So level one faults will activate a single fault, level two fault will activate at least two faults, and level five faults will activate at least five faults of increasing complexity. This not only gives them opportunity for more practice, but also a sense of achievement. The fault system in the installation testing fault board comes with a built-in touch screen, so you won’t need a computer or any other external programming device. What you see here are the resistors that we’re using to introduce faults inside the system.

So let’s say there is an installation resistance fault of 390 kilo ohms, then that resistor will be here. The purpose of having this outside is if you ever wanted to change it, you don’t have to open up the whole board. All you have to do is unplug it from here, sold your desired resistor and put it back in. On this side, we have a battery monitor that tells you the status of the battery. So at this stage, it’s 100% and showing 13.4 volts. As it goes below 20%, it will sound an alarm so you know that you have to charge it. It has its own cutoff mechanism, so if the voltage goes below a certain level, the battery will cut off to protect itself so you don’t have to worry about depleting the battery either.

We have introduced several innovations in the installation testing fault board that you won’t find anywhere else. We have installed a selector switch that allows the choice of power entry between overhead and underground mains. This prepares the shootings for all possibilities during the licensing test. Usually, the appliance testing is done on either a faulty appliance or a non-faulty one. Here, we have decided in such a way that the appliance faults can be activated or removed.

This saves money by not having to purchase multiple appliances. Finally, the biggest innovation of all is the battery operation. Using power lead creates a tripping hazard, so we have removed the need for having a power cable always connected by turning the installation testing fault board into a battery operated device. The battery lasts for around 40 hours, so that should last you for a week. The charging takes around two to three hours with automatic cutoff when it’s fully charged, so you could charge it overnight or over the weekend. In case you forget to charge it, the fault board works even while you are charging it, so practically there is no downtime.

Say probably, I guess the confidence that I had, as I’ve just mentioned, that probably shines through and the students then have faith in you that you know what you’re talking about. You don’t look foolish because everything that you’re trying to teach about is there. And you can show them straight away without having to look around for particular components or whatever that you might not be able to find and then therefore not be able to deliver the prac. So everything’s there, makes it easy.

Speaker 1:
No worries. We offer ongoing phone and email support, so you will always feel supported. Our aim at Infinispark is to work with you to maintain compliance, increase learner engagement, and give the trainers back some time. Please get in touch with us to see how we can work together. Thanks for watching.
