Making Training Videos Using PracStreamer

video transcription - how i make my videos

Hi, I’m Hus. In this video, I want to share with you how I make my videos using the PracStreamer. I’ll share with you the exact steps that I take while making my videos, and I’ve also taken a video of me making a video, so I’ll share some of those snippets with you as well. Let’s get started.

Here are the five steps that I take while I make my videos. Let’s start from the very first one. Preparing a good script can make a big difference while you’re recording the videos because you know exactly when you’re going to put cuts, and then that will help you during the editing process as well. The time that this step take is quite subjective, so if you’re a new person making a video or for the topic itself, it might take you a little bit longer to prepare the script, but if you are a subject matter expert, then it might be very quick for you to do that. Your script doesn’t have to be word for word, because if you’re already a teacher or a presenter, all you’re doing is talking in front of a camera instead of in front of a group of students. So once you have your script ready, we’ll go to the next step.

This step is important because if you know that your hardware is set up correctly and all the equipment that you’re going to use during the video are working as expected, then it will make it much easier for you during the recording process. With the PracStreamer, it’s much easier because all the cameras, microphones, switcher, it’s all set up and ready to go for you. So all I have to do is plug the PracStreamer in and see if it powers on, and plug the equipment in and see if it works. This step used to take me about a couple of hours to set up maximum, but now it takes me less than 10 minutes to test everything and get ready. So that’s a massive time save. Let’s go on to the next step.

I do this step because I want to make sure that my recording is going to be reliable during the recording and when I’m editing, so I don’t have to make too many changes later. While I’m doing this test, all I do is press record, present for a couple of minutes, check all the views on the cameras, check my audio, and check the equipment, and see how it looks in the recording. This step used to take me about a couple of hours because I had multiple cameras set up. Now with the PracStreamer, because there is only a single feed, it takes me about 10, 15 minutes to set up as well. Let’s go to the next step.

While you’re recording the video, it’s important to follow the script that you’ve prepared in step one because that will make it much easier for you to comfortably record the whole video. The best thing with the PracStreamer is because I’ve already done my test, I know that the recording is going to be reliable, and I’m not going to feel anxious whether I have pressed record on every single equipment that I’ve got here or not. Once I press record on the computer, I know that the whole thing is getting recorded, so it’s really peace of mind that I get when I’m using PracStreamer while I’m recording in this particular step. In the background, you can see me recording my video. This time around, I didn’t really make my script too well, that’s why I had to take two full takes. Normally, when I make my videos and I make mistakes, I reshoot that little bit straight away just so it’s faster for me to edit. But this time around, I made so many mistakes in the first take that had to retake the whole thing. So I did spend about 15 minutes extra making this video.

On through our calculations, let’s connect that circuit and see what results we get. For this circuit, we will use this power supply and we’ll set it to 15 volts. So as we went through the calculations and the connections, we saw there were some differences between the theoretical values and the practical values.

This is the biggest step that I take when I’m making my videos. Now, back when I used to use multiple cameras and multiple devices, the problem was the first step was really is I had to import my feed from every single device. So if I had two cameras and an audio recorder, that’s three feeds that are coming out of that, and then I would import that, and then I would have to sync it all, because if it’s not syncing, obviously audio and videos are going to be all out of whack. So if I sync it, and then I know that it’s going to flow well. Once I’ve synced it, then I have to mark them to make sure which bits are mistakes or which bits are cuts, which feed I want to show at what time and so on. So it is very arduous process.

It used to take me about 8 to 10 hours to edit the video. But with the single feed that comes out of the PracStreamer, it’s much easier because I know that there’s only single feed. I don’t have to do any syncing. That’s first. Second is every time I’m switching, I know that there is a cut there, which means that makes it a lot easier for me to do as well. Since I’ve started using the PracStreamer, my editing time has gone down to about 1 to 1.5 hours as compared to 8 to 10 hours. As you can see in the background, in this step, I’m just in front of the computer using the software to make all the edits. The software that I use is Camtasia. There’s a lot of other software out there, but I’ve found Camtasia to be the easiest for me.

As you saw in this video, I took you through my step-by-step process on how I make my videos using the PracStreamer, and the time saving that I get by using this single unit as compared to multiple equipment when I used to make my videos back in the day. If you want to see the final video of the video that I was making, I have put the link in my email, but I’ll also put the link in my YouTube description.
